My canna lillies have green balls on the stalks. Is that normal?

Pinch off a green ball and examine it. You may have a caterpillar or a fungus. In either case, spray with an insect or fungus killer, according to what you find. If the node is really a forming leaf, that's cool. Be sure your cannas are getting enough regular moisture (moist soil) but not wet soil or roots. Enjoy your cannas! Bless you😇
