Poisonous Lantana?
So, I recently learned that lantana is terribly poisonous to horses and cattle. I thought the poster must have been exaggerating but as I read through the comments, everyone concurred. Many people said it was even illegal in their country and were horrified to find that it was for sale in big box stores in the US. I think that was Australia or New Zealand where it was illegal. I have forgotten if all these new plants that planted were Lantana and I’m hoping some of you garden experts can weigh in on the following pictures. And from what I learned it doesn’t matter if you don’t have livestock because birds and wind can transport the seeds a great distance.
Update: I just asked my neighbor and the yellow is Lantana but the others are Verbena. Whew!
At first I thought it might be primrose. But it is lantana.

Hi Stacy, yes that's Lantana. It's a pest here in South Africa too. If you don't have any other plants really close by that you want to keep, you can pour boiling water directly onto the base of the plant and it cooks the roots to death.
Looks like a species of Lantana, there are many. The 3rd picture down, the 1 with the gloved hand looks like creeping charlie.
You are correct. That is Lantana and it is also poisonous to dogs and cats.
In Lantana is often used in AZlandscaping in varying colors and is accepted in residential home plantings. Oleander bushes are also widely accepted, though they are somewhat toxic as well. A plant known as "firestix/firestick" is poisonous to dogs is often planted as well.
Stacy, all the plants you show are in the Verbenaceae (Verbena) family. Lantana is native from the southern United States through Central and South America. There are 11 species and subspecies native to the United States. Lantana is NOT listed as a noxious weed by the U.S. Dept of Agriculture.
1. Googling says Lantana is a member of the verbena family. Supposedly abt 150 types.
