how do I take care of succulents? They were beautiful over the summer, then they became overgrown and eventually died from the cold.

I brought some in from the yard before frost (zone 5) used good potting soil and placed them in a pretty planter for a centerpiece. They do not need a lot of water.....mist them in the winter because of heated homes.
They grow slowly and by the time Spring comes and you are tired of them plant them outside again.
Actually sometimes it looks like they’ve died but often, they do come back in the Spring. Their roots hold water and that’s the reason they do not need a great deal of watering. Good sandy soil will keep them alive all year long.
