This is about 8 inches across, so far.
What kind of plant is this?
This plant just appeared next to my porch. It doesn't match anything I have planted myself. The birdfeeder is not far away and I'm wondering if some kind of birdseed went to seed.

Does anyone know what kind of tree or bush this is?
Does anyone know what kind of tree or bush this is? It's growing in a planter, which makes me think I may have planted last fall.(This discussion is now closed)
Wait until it blooms and then look it up on a garden site.
I don't know, but expect that the bird seed is the cause. Let it grow and see what happens. You can also take picture to a nursery. I have done that with bush clippings.
Cinnamon basil
Salvia
basil
Is it scented, possibly mint
It looks a bit like Celosia. If the flowers look like pointy brushes, that will confirm it
Weed
Do a photo search using your photo.
It looks like a "4 o'clock". Seeds travel by wind. If it blooms at or around 4 pm, that's what it is.
It looks like Impatiens.
salvia
there are different types of impatiens.....just a suggestion!
It looks like a cockscomb. I don't know the official name. If so, it will make velvety flowers. There are many different colors that I have seen. I think the most common is probably a reddish burgundy. If you are in a mild climate it may make seed in the fall, and possibly come back with more plants in the spring. I guess you can move it to a pot, if it's not where you want it.
Although it does look similar to deposit as well. Maybe that's in the same family, or the official name ??
That was supposed to read celosia. Darned spell check !!
Mint
Hierbabuena
