Wait for February or March, when new leaves start showing. Then trim so the bushes or trees don't get higher than you can trim again in October. Don't wait too late in the Spring, or you will trim all of the tiny buds off the bushes and blooming will be delayed by weeks. ☺️ -

In late winter or early spring, these shrubs can be cut all the way back to the ground.
