fall..l agree
You need to check what is the ideal planting time for each plant, some plants are put in in the fall and others in the spring. In Texas we have "County Agents", that are provided/employed by the local government, they will have this information.
Early spring or late fall
It all depends on where you live, where I live it is already down into twenties at night and forties some nights, so they may not establish themselves very good.
Depending on what you want to plant , bulbs should go in now and hardy plants like Mums you should plant so they have a good root system started before very cold weather hits. If your garden is finished and you haven’t and annuals dig it up and put in mulch to help the dirt for next year.
Where do you live Debbie? If in a milder climate, now is a great time. If you live where snow will be flying soon, wait until next spring. I am in Zone 9 and can grow more things year round than people who live in zones 3, 4 or 5.
