Where can I buy or rake my own pine straw?

Lowe's carries both short needle and long needle pine straw. To get your own, find a pine forest and rake but beware of insects. Remember this is an acid-producing mulch that only acid-loving plants will thrive in like camelias, azaleas, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, fuschias, holly trees.Helpful Reply -

I would call the city parks commissioner if it were me. They have pine needles to rake, if that is what you mean.Helpful Reply -

Our local Ace Hardware stores also sell them in case Lowe's is out.Helpful Reply -

Be sure to wear gloves. Some small needles, like cedar, will be like splinters that are hard to see.Helpful Reply -
