Hi Margaret, Drill some holes in the bottoms of the buckets. Then put rocks in the buckets. Next is a layer of newspaper. All of this is for proper drainage. Then put soil in the buckets and then the plants. Put a tomato cage around your plants. Place is sun and water.
I drill holes in bottom and along side, put a bit of gravel in bottom then dirt.

Drill drainage holes in the bottom of your bucket. Fill with a loam or sandy loam soil. Plant your tomato plant. I then cover the top of the soil with mulch or straw to help retain moisture.
