What is the best method for killing grass around trees?
Hi, I would like to know how to kill the grass around the base of a tree without harming the tree itself. Any information is greatly appreciated, thank you.
You can get it taken out, but save and dry the cherry wood. It is great for BBQing.
Mary...Do you have any idea what happened to it and do you have others. We have just found what is known as "Black Knot" on our plum tree and it has spread to a second. This is an air borne fungus that is extremely deadly and attacks trees that have pitted fruits. If possible, look it up on the internet and locate a picture. If it is "Black Knot" it has to be cut off and bagged, sealed and taken to a landfill. Of course, that is what we are going to attempt to do as we want desperately to save ours because there is a story behind it. Since yours is dead you still may want to read about getting rid of it so it doesn't cause problems if you have other trees of this type or intend to plant others! Good luck to you ... I hope you find it isn't this deadly disease!
Thank you both for your answers. I will look at tree for black knot. I will safe the branches for the BBQ.
You don’t have to worry about killing it, so any time is fine.
