Just moved into smaller home recently and there are two eighty foot trees in the backyard that need to be removed. What do I need to do to start the removal process?

  • Call in a professional tree service. Cutting down a tree is an art and must be done very carefully in order to avoid damage or injury. Especially 80' trees. If you do not know exactly how to remove the limbs - or have the equipment - most places will not even rent it out to you, it could easily be a disaster. Be safe rather than sorry.

I would believe that the smaller house denotes a small yard a well. I would call in at LEAST 3 guys for a quote and tell ALL of them you are getting more than one quote. remember that competition gets to costs down. this will NOT be a cheap project. good luck!

Also, make sure they have insurance. Have them give you a written copy of it. We just had 5 trees removed, all 70' tall. They did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves.

I agree 100%. Trees that big have to be cut from the top down to prevent damage to surrounding property and utility wires.

I would definitely recommend a professional if you have no experience doing it. Especially a tree that tall. You don't want to make a mistake and damage your home, your neighbor's property, or injure yourself.

I'll recommend that you consult with professionals, according to TreeCutPros, the dangers of DIY tree treatments far outweighs the benefits.

Check out, maybe you can cut these trees for free. Anyway for so big trees it is better to hire a professional.
