Should you cover exposed roots in potted plants?

Time to repot in next size up container. If the roots are left exposed too long the plant is susceptible to pests or could die.Helpful Reply -

Just putting potting soil on top is not good because the roots you see have been pushed up from overgrowth down below. When you repot, you may need more drainage, more soil for the roots, and more soil and mulch for the top layer. It's usually best to just water the plants well, and wait a week before fertilizing. Yes, you should cover them. As the others said, your plant probably needs a larger pot then you'll have room to adequately cover the exposed roots.Helpful Reply -

What can I place inside this planter in order to use less soil?
