How I can improve the drainage in my yard?

It has been the wettest year here in Maryland, and my back yard is "soppy". Just wondering how I can improve the drainage in my yard. Thank you!

My yard used to be a nice grassy area and is now a wet mossy mess
Make a dry bed creek.
If you have a low spot in your yard build a rain garden.
Make sure you downspouts drain away and not into the problem area.
Dig a french drain.
Make a dry well.
A solution that I've used for a few clients is a "french drain" basically you dig a large, deep, pit in your yard. Fill most of it with crushed stone, and then cover over the top with a layer of soil and sod. The crashed stone allows the water a place to settle and collect away from the surface.
The best solution is always grading though. Try and slope your whole property away from your home. You've got to try and create a run off area for all the water to go to.
Hi Cat, you can have some fun with this by doing a dry cree kbed in your yard that will function as a drainage ditch, plan out where you want the water to run to and use that as the starting point. i have attached a link to give some idea on how it works. It looks pretty as well!

thank you everyone! I wish it were spring so I can get to work
We added a dry well to our yard as we are the lowest spot and had flooding all the time. It was a lot of work but it has helped tremendously. You can see what we did here: https://www.flippingtheflip.com/2016/06/yard-works.html
