Hi Janet,
It all depends on what you are planting.

Some say 6 inches, but 12 is best to give the roots plenty of room, Janet.
Hello Janet! How deep you want your soil in your raised garden bed will depend on what you want to grow. I have about 10-12 inches depth in my raised bed. Here is an article that gives you depth by the variety of vegetables you want to grow: https://learn.eartheasy.com/guides/raised-beds-soil-depth-requirements/
Its not only depending on what you grow ,you also have to consider what your raised beds are sitting on ,we have 14 of them all 12 inches deep but they are sitting on Garden soil if they sit on cement they most likely have to have more then 12 inches.
