Protect from what?
What zone are you in? My tomatoes are still producing, but I am in Zone 9 so no frost or freeze worries. 40's at night, 80's - low 90's during the day. If you wish you can wrap them with an old sheet to protect from cooler temps.
I live in OHio and we already have freeze at night and morning before the sun comes up. My plant is full of green tomatoes. Should I take off the tomatoes and let them ripe in the house. Also I would like to save some seeds for next spring from this bush, how do I do that? Thanks for your help. Josie
I have my tomato in a large pot around 18" or more. When temperatures get down to the forties, I move it inside by a south facing window along with my ginger, turmeric and lemon grass. I am lucky to have floor to ceiling windows on the south side so they still get lots of light. All I have to do is water and feed and they usually last thru till next spring. If I want more plants, I cut off suckers, root them and give them their own pots. I also have heirloom seeds. You let the tomato get really ripe, remove the seeds, lay them on a paper towel to dry and then store in brown pill bottles. I put them in the frig until planting time.
Just cover it with a tarp or cloth when it freezes
