I’m moving-I want to transplant some plants to a new house

I want to transplant some plants to a new house. Is this a bad time?
Where in CA are you moving to? This late in the season, better to start with established plants from a nursery. Depending on where you are moving to, we can still have tomatoes in November, and in rare cases, even longer. Companion planting is always good! Marigolds, parsley, basil are all good with tomatoes.
