A cot sized bed would be about 29" wide X 72" long (I just measured one I have in the attic.) So that leaves 4 feet for the end of the room under the window (how long is the window? and how wide?) How wide and how high are the bookshelves? Maybe they could go across from the bed. And you could have a longish but narrow desk/table under the window. If you pile pillows up against the wall on the bed it could look like a sofa.

In our old house, we had a day bed in front of our window that we made up like a sofa when not in use, with a desk on the opposite wall. The wall between the two had bookshelves. It worked well this way because the computer monitor doubled as a TV for the guest when we had company.
