Has anyone removed the chair rail in their mobile home?

I would like to paint the walls in my MH but I don't like the chair rail and want to get rid of it. I'm wondering if removing them will damage the wall and require repair. Also, removal of the rail will create a gap in the strips. I don't want to remove all the strips so I am hoping someone has a creative way to deal with them. First time DIYer here so keep it simple, lol.
Chair rail runs through the entire living room and dining room.

I got good news & also bad news. The good news is you can probably remove the chair rail with no issues as most manufacturers run long sheets & add trim / band elements later. The bad news... not all do so check first in an unobtrusive area. If the ran the drywall all the way up - it depends on if it has been caulked - if so break the caulk line (knife generally) & then carefully using a putty knife pry away. No caulk, you got it, you a putty knife, slide it behind & gently pry away, sliding down the wall as you go. Fill in any holes, sand & clean the walls & you should be good to go

I think the easiest way would be to paint over it all, as it is. No matter what way the chair rail and trim are attached, you'd still have to replace all the vertical trim pieces as they are covering seams in the walls, which I don't think it drywall.

I used plywood over the walls and added strips of wood to make it look country.

WHEN WE REMOVED OURS, THERE WERE LOTS OF TINY NAIL HOLES...WE JUST FILLED AND SANDED...LATER WE ENDED UP PUTTING PLYWOOD OVER THE WHOLE WALL.

We did a texture over this type of wall board in my Mom's living room 9 years ago and it is still beautiful. We took down the chair rail and other trim and put it on thick with a 10 inch board and knocked it down. Then painted it white. It has a Tuscan look to it.

We replaced ours with cedar we bought at a local saw mill. Much cheaper that way and it turned out great. Gave it a cabin feel

Yes, but be prepared for the damage and you will have to fill the gap because the panel boards stop on top of the rail and start over on bottom of the rail.

Couldn't you paint the chair rail the same color as the walls.....it will sort of fade into the background.. I am afraid if you take it down/off there will be a big gap between the top and bottom parts of your wall. Not sure about the corner wood.....but maybe just painting the chair rail wood and wall piece would look fine.

When i removed mine, there were good size gaps that had to be filled and sanded. Was a pain. I would paint over them unless you don't mind doing a lot of mudding and sanding.
