How can I change my brass lock hardware to silver? Can I paint?

Remove the hardware and spray paint it with Rustoleum 2X for metal.Give light coats allowing to dry in-between.

If you get new hardware it will come with a new set of keys. So if you want to keep the same hardware and same keys, I would remove the entire handle section, it comes off with screws probably on the inside. Then clean it well, sand just a tad and spray paint with a Rustoleum paint. They have a paint and primer all in one with beautiful colors in the silver color scheme.

Thanks for the comments, I just wondered if spray paint would hold up. Will give it a try.
