How to renovate a new kitchen?
Total remodel with new kitchen on lower level. Concrete slab floor. What goes first the flooring or the kitchen cabinets?

On a total gut job, I put the flooring in first, then cabinets. Be sure to cover up the floor after the cabinets are installed to protect them until the renovation is complete.

I'd say cabinets so the flooring doesn't get wrecked during install.
Hi F E Walker,
I agree with Lynn and would prefer to put the cabinets in before the flooring. My reasoning is that this would require cutting around the cabinets which would make it easier to replace the flooring in a future remodel. If you do the flooring first it would most likely go wall-to-wall which would mean that the flooring would be underneath the cabinets and might have to be cut away for a future change. The interesting thing is that the experts seem to disagree about the "correct" order.
One suggests doing the floor after the cabinets.

So I'm guessing that it's your choice. Wishing you the best.
NOPE! Flooring goes last. Wall cabinets first, then base cabinets, countetops next. You don't want any damage or OOPS to new floors. Even covering the floors, a grain of dirt can scratch them up from traffic. Also why the added expense for flooring that will be covered by cabinets and never be seen. That's the way we built new homes.
