I need to replace an ugly tile countertop inexpensively! Any ideas?

There is not much countertop space so I didn’t know if there is something I could overlay on top or would it be easier to remove and put something different? The plan is to repaint cupboards also and maybe replace the doors!

Hi Brenda, lots of Hometalkers have had that same problem with a tile countertops and have created beautiful results. Here is a great example:

Or you can use stencils. This example is showing how to stencil a tile floor, but the same principle applies:

I used a product called quikcrete on my formica. I've seen the same product used over tile. Here is a pic if you'd like to see how it turned out: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/changing-up-an-orange-formica-countertop-with-concrete-18147786?r=2

I like your counter tops!
There is a apint called countertop paint. Home Depot has it. My grand daughter re-did both of her bathrooms with it and it has really lasted. You can't cut on it or pot hot pots on it though. Also...I too like your countertops. I have granite and would give it up for leather look Formica in a minute!
I like the tile but not the edges, paint that to blend with the tiles.Take everything off your counter tops and pare it down, maybe stainless accents to match your cabinet handles. The broken tiles replace if you have them,, if not you’re going to have to just hide them with something in front of them.
Oh my, huge tiles are ugly, whether on a floor or countertop. Actually, have never seen them on a countertop, ugh.
One more vote for the concrete/glaze application!
I have square gosh awful granite tile previous owners put in they ripped out the original laminate countertop/backsplash with metal trim. House was built in the 50's and I have seen my neighbors kitchens and they left the original laminate. I took waterproof contact paper that is marble looking on the countertops, painted the awful wood trim.
