Sure . Start looking at resale shops, Goodwill and salvage stores. Paint is a fast color change.People are always updating homes especially kitchens.
Dear Grace! How can you redo a kitchen with no budget? You will have to spend some money to freshen things up! You can look for supplies at places like Habitat for Humanity that cost a fraction of what you would pay in a store--they sell partially used paint, tiles that are very inexpensive, used cabinets, flooring, wallpaper, kitchen cabinets, kitchen furniture and electrical fixtures. You can also check out the clearance sections of your local stores like Menards, Home Depot, and Lowes for some good deals. And yes...I am your age...and I jump right in and redo the things I want to change! Sometimes I need a little more muscle so I call in the troops! Working on my bathroom right now! And I have redone my kitchen--painted cabinets, scrapped off popcorn ceilings, installed ship lap, put new flooring in my dining room, painted some furniture and made an island from an old dresser. You can do it!!
Absolutely! Why couldn’t you? Because your 63? If you have the Energy, Strength and Know How then I don’t see why you couldn’t. If your not physically able then don’t or get help from friends & family. Budget wise, I know Home Depot, Loews etc. they used to have an Oops section in Paint dept. I’ve picked up some great paint colors (they’ll shake paint for you) for almost nothing in cost. After shaking paint ask them to open can to look & dip paint stick in, see if you like the color. Also you can go to The Habitat store they have all kinds of stuff for kitchens - cabinets, cab.hardware, etc.. they get all kinds of things for the home. I’ve found that the people working there are very helpful, if you don’t see what you want ask, plus some stores know what day certain things are delivered. Make sure you ask if they have Senior discount or a Seniors Day, I do know a lot of stores offer this. GoodWill has Seniors Day weekly, if you go on that day (call & ask the day) you’ll get a big discount.
