You can sand them down and repaint, but these are very old and the best thing to do is replace them. If you are on a limited budget, go to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in your area and check out their new and used cabinets in stock.Helpful Reply -

When you remove the cabinet doors don't forget to take the hardware (hinges) off and paint those a nice contrasting color too. New hardware to match the color of the hinges.Helpful Reply -

They'd look nice if you sand, paint and maybe add some trim so they look like the shaker style cabinets. Consider painting floor too... I've seen some really cute stenciled floors lately.Helpful Reply -
