If you need to replace just one tile, use a hammer and chisel and CAREFULLY hammer the tile to crack it, then using hammer and chisel, get the first piece out and the rest will be a breeze! Before replacing the tile, make sure to have an even surface BEFORE you mastick it down or it will crack again. Hope this helps!
If it is a vinyl tile, use a box cutter to make a cut across one corner. Starting at the cut edge, using a putty knife lift out the small piece. Now you can remove the remaining tile without damaging the other tiles. Use a good strong metal putty knife.
For vinyl tile you can soften the adhesive with a blow dryer then scrape off. For ceramic a good heavy hammer and a chisel. Wear gloves and eye protection.
