Here's an idea I saw by a DIYer the other day: They used vinyl (laminate) wood flooring and glued it to the brick with liquid nails. The image I'm attaching looks like wood that they may have glued on or used brick anchors of some kind. Just some ideas :)Helpful Reply -

You could try to use sandpaper and get some of the paint off and give it a whitewashed look.Helpful Reply -
