I don't know what yours looks like but I used watered down latex to white wash mine and it really made a difference. 3 pts water to 1 pt paint. Be careful, it's very watery. I kept a rag handy and sometimes just put it on then wiped it off gently. You'll have to play with the look you want. Here's mine done half way so you can see what I did. Another option is to cover most of the brick with dry wall or plywood. Here are some other ideas.
