Get a special high heat black paint and paint over the gold. That will make a world of difference!

Tile around it and spray paint the metal
I have/ had I mean, almost the same fire place & what I did was a total transformation making most of the effects & altering the gold to white. The fire place looks like a beautiful outdoor one now along with hanging succulents (that I made; I make most items from re-cycle goods).. persons sitting near my fire really enjoy the different ambiance... I even make faux wood,rocks from papermaché..... If you are truly interested in viewing what I have done then just tag me & ask me so,& then I will say what one needs to do to accomplish one’s very own look,& what it’s likely to cost{though do u/stand it will be an approximation as ‘decor artists’ have it hard from very expensive prices here, so i’ll grant you an idea}
AND if not, happy crafting anyway, always keep positive:)
