How about a big picture? Or find a big frame at a rummage sale or resale shop.
Then instead of an actual picture get a large sheet of heavy paper, be creative with it. Try a finger painting; do a scribble design to paint or color; do a collage. Find magazine or other pix of foods. Go for whatever media or theme you like.
Have fun with various ideas. Do you cook? Take pix of the meals or dishes you prepare and think of ways to display the pix.
Look thru magazines and steal ideas from pix you like.
Another variation: go to a fabric store; find a material that picks up your colors.
Again, either frame it, or make it into 3 sections, and hang them from a plain or decorative rod. I did that in my eating area. I bought a rod and hooks for it; did the fabric in 3 sections. Made loops at the top of each, added a fringe about 2 inches down, folded the bottom ends into a triangle, added a tassel on each.
Really quite easy to do. Fills a wall to size you want. Have fun!
When you go to restaurants check what they display; might lead to an idea.
Have fun!
Just buy some wallpaper? Leave just the place above the hutch free, the size you want, buy some wooden plancks and make a frame out of it?
You can buy glass frost kit and change the look of it, perhaps with a design.....
I love the idea of a mural !
You can move the hutch and experiment in the space behind it so you can evaluate a few ideas. I like the idea of shifting the hutch to one side, adding a chair and a lamp, and making a tiny reading area, and treating the mirrored wall as a blank slate. Best wishes!
Yes a mural would be nice, but you can also do a great big stencil of a cherry blossom tree or branch across the wall, then have falling blossoms randomly drifting across the mirror in white and pinks. or a decal... https://www.amazon.com/Nursery-Japanese-Magnolia-Blossom-1121/dp/B001F40MI0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1494739804&sr=8-4&keywords=cherry+blossom+stencil or decal https://www.amazon.com/Door-Sticker-Cherry-Blossoms-Place/dp/B00T31A6DI/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1494740171&sr=8-32&keywords=cherry+blossom+stencil or birch trees painted on the glass... https://www.pinterest.com/pin/56787645279205149/
