Are you talking about power tools, hand tools, tools on stands? If hand tools and/or small hand held power tools I would line the wall with peg board and work from there.

Peg board is awesome to help with small space storage! You can hang things with ease and move them around without damaging walls.

Also mason jars, you can nail or screw the lids to the underside of a cupboard (above a counter or underneath aywhere you want) then you can fill them with any small items (nails/screws/string etc) that will free up counter/cupboards space.

Also you can use mason jars by attaching a hose clamp to a piece of wood (you can attach as many that will fit on the wood you are using) just attach the hose clamp to the wood and before you tighten it up put the upper part of the jar in it.

You can also hang cardboard boxes sideways on a wall to store lighter items, or crates to hold heavier items.

You can use a 3 drawer rolling storage bin (sorry can't think of the name but it's 3 drawers and like a file cabinet but plastic/wood and smallish)

You could use a tension rod and some

    S-hooks aswell

If you can afford it, one of those new modern tool chests should do the trick. They come in all sorts of sizes and designs. They do come on sale quite often and they will last a lifetime.

In the organizing and shelf section of Lowes for example there are peg board accessory kits. They allow for all sorts of items to hang from assorted hooks etc

A link attached see website for others. Hope this helps

Go vertical with pegboard and narrow shelves.

Do some research... Pinterest.com or one or more of the wood working shop magazine sites... Google Search: Tool storage for a small shop... choose the "more images" selection... see what ideas look like it would work for you.. and choose the "visit" option to find plans or products... take the ideas you find and make it work for your space.

I agree. I think simple pegboard would give you a lot of storage. You could spray paint the board white or a fun color.

Wall mounted cabinets like a kitchen and a fold up/down work bench maybe?
