Try hanging them. Get some 1x2s, stain or paint them and add cup hooks at intervals. Can hang vertically or horizontally. Or you could find some cheap round plastic bowls the size you need and stack them with caps between!

If you fold in the rear half of the cap toard the front, they will more easily stack, with visors facing forward. Stacking by color or season makes them more easily accessible.
You can use a chain with clips on it and hang it behind a door or in the corner of a room. Hang each baseball cap on a clip. It keeps them organized!
