Correction! It’s 42” wide.
Can you put shelves all the way down the closet, and fold the clothes like in a store and put them that way rather than hanging. And a shelf for shoes, or put a shoe bag on the inside of door if it's fits not sure it will.
I would use double clothes bars. You can buy the pressure bars at any bigbox store.
Have the opening as wide as possible so you don't lose any of the 42". Build shelves top to bottom since 11" isn't deep enough for a hanger.
Is it possible to bring out the 11" depth so that you can use hangers? If so, double the rods and utilize top shelves and bottom space.
Do you have any space for a portable closet? They are very affordable and pretty sturdy. Don't forget about under the bed storage as well.
I empathize. That’s larger than my “coat” closet. Won’t close on hangars, and we’re too large to use kids hangars.
Part of the solution depends on how much hanging space you need. Below is something you can DIY from a plumbing department.

You can also find wall-mount hangar racks. This ones not perfect, and I’m sure you can find it more cheaply, but just as an idea....

This is a system that’s an inch too deep, but the concept can be copied, DIY. Notice the “brackets” on the back wall.
You could also hang a wire shelf high, then just hang dresses in the spaces between, using them as a closet rod, tho clothing will be facing you.

Consider, too, an inexpensive bookcase for folded stuff, many of which are 10”-11” deep. Secure to the back wall.
Best of luck. Keep your sense of humor.
