Outdoor fabric is rather stiff and harder to sew on a home machine... Shade Cloth is available at most large home improvement stores in the garden area... It comes in several colors, is 60 inches wide and sold either in a single piece of about 15 feet or by the foot. You can use a home sewing machine (use a UV treated thread for longevity) or get a grommet kit and lace it onto whatever framework you use. Double it for a deeper shade... wind passes right thru it under normal circumstances, so it stays up on windy days
