Consider using flowers as a border around vegetables. Marigolds are good rabbit and deer deterrants(sp).
Borage will attract pollinators to your garden, as will thyme.
rue will repel Japanese beetles and stray animals.
Tansy repels ants, squash bugs and flying insects.
Foxglove is reputed to repel deer, as will sage and lavender.
Tomatoes do well with basil planted in front of it, or interplanted with carrots.
Rosemary and parsley will repel carrot flies.
French marigolds will kill nematodes, repel mexican bean beetles and also repel rabbits, deer.
Yes MIX THEM; the flowers draw pollinators so the veggies get pollinated making fruit & veggies. Also draw beneficial predator bugs which eat bugs that eat your veggie plants.
