It's ... okay, but you have to know what your plant will be like when fully grown. If it has a root system that will clog the drain, you've defeated your purpose.
I would not. The purpose of this drain is to keep the area puddle free and water away from the structure. By planting something there it will impeded it's ability to do that. Put some planters around it.
I wouldn't otherwise it defeats the purpose of the drain. Plant roots will get in the drain and clog it.
The surrounding grass has grown over the drain and is growing nicely
I wouldn't do it, honestly.
