What do I do if I don't know how to work my home security system?

We pursued a house and it came with a complete home safety system. Motion sensors are all over the house and windows. Apparently, this was skillfully installed, has anybody ever been in this condition and got it to work?

You can get the name off the main keypad and call the manufacturer. Call your realtor and ask him/her to contact the seller and ask for directions. Take the brand and look for videos on YouTube.

A co-worker was in this situation. He ended up calling the manufacturer as Zard suggested. Some of them were dummies and some were battery operated and needed new batteries in order to work.

  • Zard is correct. Instructions SHOULD have been left for you. Call the manufacturer and get them to help you. In many cases instructions can be found on line on the manufacturers website. I would have requested information in my purchase papers, but that is an easily overlooked item.

The manufacturer and previous owners are the 2 sets of help to go to. For the manufacturer-have the model numbers in hand when you call. Or have the realtor reach out to the people who sold their house to you. It is curious you were not given this information at the final walk through or the closing.

If it is the kind of system that notifies the police, you need an account set up with a security business too. And some localities now require that the systems be registered with the city or county.

Everything depends on how complex is your security system. Sometimes it can be simply, formed by 2-3 cameras and a phone, that ways you can watch a couple of videos on youtube by writing the name of the company and do everything by yourself. In a more hard system, you can't watch only videos, you need to be a pro to fix everything. So it is better to call a security system company which will check and plug all the sensor, the ai, the cameras and will show you how the whole system works. Btw, by my experience, I can suggest you https://www.vivint.com/resources/article/texas-home-security-and-automation-guide, I paid a decent price for a good quality.

Realtor should have made sure the instructions were left by the sellers. Contact the manufacture if you don't get any success.
