Mounting security cameras

What a sloppy job. Report this guy so others won't get ripped.

Gather the cords up neatly and zip tie them so that there isn't cord laying around. Lay the cord so that it runs along the edge of the walls, counter etc. You could perhaps paint the cord to match the background so it blends in or find the systems for hiding cords at home improvement stores. You could hang them on the wall I am sure, but he must have put them in those spots for good camera coverage, so you have to make sure it is in the right direction and angle, height, etc. to get the same coverage.

You PAID someone to do this? I agree - call the company and complain about their "installer." I'm concerned, though, that these cameras are easily unplug gable and throw-away-able. Unless your security system records to a DVR (or similar), you'll be sad if someone does break in. Or are these nanny cams? They should be hidden, or at least mounted unobtrusively. Our cameras (interior and exterior) are wired through the wall. No visible wires at all, and they're tiny - and so well-hidden that our friends have not spotted most of them (we've asked).

That one on the floor...why? You can't put any furniture near it.

Wow, I can't believe someone charged you to do that! It's not hard to actually install them so they give you views of the areas. I did a better job installing one in my chicken coop. Definitely call the company and complain. Looks like all their installation including was taking things out of boxes and plugging them in. Did they at least set up the video Center?

Here is a quick, easy, and cheap solution! I have several security cameras in my office so naturally I have cords running everywhere. I purchased (at Lowe's ) gray foam tubes --- it looks like a swim noodle -- which is used for wrapping pipe. They already have a slit in the side, they re cheap, and the gray color 'disappears' . It is very easy to cut to the length you need. It looks SO-O-O much better with my wires running along the floor in their tidy gray foam tubes.

Wait, is this even serious?! Dude, you should report him as soon as possible, so that no one would ever call for his services again! A sloppy job... I would call it the worst possible job actually. If he would have done this in my home, I would actually beat the sh*t out of him, as I am paying for his services, not for this kind of sh*t! Now I understand that, the company that I have called for, are the best security company online, and that is for sure. They even installed some motion sensors in the backyard.

One option could be mounting the cameras high up on corners or eaves, using weatherproof mounts to keep them secure and tidy. Another idea is to discreetly run the cords along walls or through conduits to keep things neat.

I ended up using adhesive mounts to attach them discreetly to corners and ceilings, keeping the cords neatly tucked away. It made a huge difference in the aesthetics of my setup. You might want to give that a try for a cleaner look and added security.

Hi Shaunta: Call him back and have him install them properly. You should not have this mess to deal with. Send the pictures to his company and complain and have another installer come to do the work. The cords that can be, should be put behind the molding. Seriously, putting the cameras on top of boxes? How unprofessional!

Yup, give the company a call and have them send someone out who can fix this, not the same person who did the install. Tell them you are highly dissatisfied with the quality of their work. We had a similar "tech" install our indoors security camera, he left the wire hanging like a clothes line across the living room wall.

If you don't complain, they will continue to give the same low quality service to all the next customers. It is a bad mark for the company.

Oh my goodness, what a mess. I hope you did not pay an arm and a leg for this install. I would definitely complain to the company. Buy some command hooks and hide the cords along furniture and under the bar. Your granite is beautiful by the way. You can run them under the molding also.

Ah that's super frustrating. I would contact the company first and nicely express your concerns about the installation. Hopefully someone will come back out and tidy that up as it shouldn't have been left so messy. If they don't, you can get cord organization kits and similar. Try out the search bar at the top left for cord organization too.

That's not right, they should be installed on the wall, unless they were waiting for you to place them where you like? What good would it do on the floor? Perhaps you can map out where you think they would serve you best and have them come back to properly mount them.
