Home defence works real well safe for pets too. We have used it for years. Spray perimeter of outside of house. Then spray inside.

Mix borax, sugar, and peanut butter in roughly equal amounts, until it is about the texture of cornmeal. Leave it in a shallow container near the place they are coming in, or anywhere along their path. Once they find it, they will all come out to get some, and take it back to the babies. Don't kill them, let them take it to the nest. Make more every few days or if gets packed down. After about a week they will be gone for good.

You can use oatmeal too. Just scatter them where you see them. They take it to their nest eat it then drink the water. Oatmeal will expands and kill it.
