The Bag a Bug product works well, hang it as far away from your tree that they are invading. They will be drawn to the pheromone, go into the bag and never come out. Recycle the beetles after they have died in the bag.
To keep them out of your house, use screens or keep the doors and windows shut.
They hate lemon scent. Use lemon oil and lemon scented cleaners.
Cedar will also keep them away
I had many Japanese beetles on my newly planted arborvite trees last year. Everyday I went out with a bucket of soapy water and picked them off, tossed them into the bucket. Got over 100.
