  • This site will help you out. Depending on the species, some will abandon the nest. This happens to one of my girlfriends every year. Luckily they have multiple doors to their home so they just leave the nest be until the babies grow up and move on. She has quite a collection of nests! She puts them out for the birds to "recycle" the materials.

Please just leave it there until the hatchlings fly away. I promise it won't be that long. Post a sign and use your side or back door, if necessary, I implore you!

I would not touch it until the babies are gone

It is best to leave the nest alone. It is kind of fun to see the baby birds. It will only be a few weeks and they will suddenly be gone.

the second you see the nest is empty after the babies fledge? Take it down so momma won't lay more.

We had a robins nest at our front door, they were gone in maybe 6 weeks, and as long as you go slow and ignored them they just sat in the nest and watched. If you can just leave them be until they fly off.
