Best would be to cut or mow them down. Then.....

I use one cup of vinegar, one cup of table salt to two gallons water in a garden sprayer. Saturate the weeds till dipping. Do not use on lawn or in garden will kill everything. Boiling water on weeds in lawn and garden.

really depends what the weeds(woody stalks) are and what is around them(lawn, veggies etc.)---why are they so big maybe should have gotten to them sooner if they go to bloom/seed you will have a lot more; straight vinegar soak the heck out of them need to get it down to root systems the bigger stems woody need to use higher acidity like 20% vinegar or higher----1 gallon vinegar with 1 cup table salt do not dilute it pour on plants in center soaking down into root system full hot direct sun no rain for at least 3 days

I'm sorry to here about your family, however I did not mean my question in any offensive way. When posting stuff on social media it becomes everyones concern,as a person who used to garden & landscape professionally I do ask these type of questions it helps lay a backdrop for proper control of the weeds. If one gardens on regular basis different methods other than strong chemicals can be used. Large woody stalked plants root systems cannot be killed by most DIY concoctions and you'll just need to repeat the treatments over & over.Simple easy solution Round-Up spray on weeds that are growing it's absorbed into leaves then stems then root systems, then you'll need to use a preemergent to stop any seeds from sprouting in future. follow all safety instruction carefully as all manmade chemicals are hazardous to something. Add food coloring to it so you can see where you have sprayed it. Don't use it long term. Thats the thing/difference about social media and talking to someone face to face, if you had called me as professional service you would have probably laid out story early on & our conversation would have been totally different.

    Mow and treat.

For sizable areas and culverts consider a weed dragon.

They come in different sizes and prices depending on individual need. Great for gravel driveway weeding.

If your weedy situation is too close to a flammable structure this weed burner won't be an option!

    Never burn poison ivy!

We used a weed dragon on our pea gravel driveway. It was 200 feet long and weeds just kept popping up in the gravel. It is more of a natural way than using chemicals as we have a lakefront property -a perfect solution for us.

One has to be cautious with its use, don't burn poison ivy, dont burn next to the house or something flammable - the wand is hot....etc.

They come in all sorts of BTUs/ prices on Amazon, I’m not sure if they’re at home improvement center is or not. The dragon wand connects to a regular propane cylinder. Hth!

    2 cups white vinegar

    ¼ cup salt

    Squirt of dawn

Mix in a spray bottle. If you have a larger area, you can mix in a garden sprayer with larger quantities. Use when it will not be raining for a few hours so that it isn’t washed away.

First if you can pull the weed. If not cut the weed to the ground. You like carpet. And I DON'T mean landscaping fabric either. Carpet works great. I get mine from a dealer and some of pieces I get are good size. I've had it on my back lot. Covered weeds. Cut out around the trees and plants. It's better than grass.
