apply newspaper, cardboard and heavy landscape fabric, top with mulch
Spray or pull by hand. Put a thick layer of mulch or newspaper.
Kill them by pouring some boiling water over the roots. Keep them out by suffocating them with some layers of newspaper or lawn fabric covered with mulch.
Do not let them go to seed! Pull the weeds when they appear. Eventually you will have few weeds. If you plant your plants very close together, that will also help keep weeds away. If this is for a vegetable garden, turn the soil over and take out any roots before planting as some weeds regrow from roots.
