Slugs. They look like snails without shells. Put either a shallow container of beer nearby ( they will crawl in and die) or something with sharp edges. You can look it up using "garden hacks" on Pinterest I think.Helpful Reply -

They are most likely slugs, and they are the bane of my existence in the strawberry garden! They only go after the ripe berries. Here are a few things that worked for me. When you see berries starting to ripen, sprinkle them with something very dry, such as cornmeal. Of course, if it rains, this won't work. Another thing I've tried is ashes from the barbecue grill. Everything washes off the berries, of course. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply -
