How can we re-do an ugly, uneven cement patio slab?
We have a large patio that has a cement slab made of stamped concrete. The cement has a coarse stamped texture which the previous owner painted. The paint has peeled in numerous places exposing the cement underneath. Due to the unevenness of the stamped surface and the exposed cement, the patio is not a place we like to go to enjoy. Is it possible to cover this ugly cement with an even surface that would stand up to the weather?

You can build a deck over it that will last a while depending upon your climate, or you can demolish it and pour a proper patio slab. Building a deck over the existing patio is an easy quick fix and I would do that until you can save the money for the demo and new slab. Get estimates so you know approximately how much to save to get exactly what you want.
