How do I cover the ground around my gazebo so dogs won't ruin it?

Here is the issue, I have 2 large puppies and they won't stop circling around my gazebo. I have already put sods and dogs pows kill the grass. Any other ideas?

I would dig out the area around the gazebo a few inches and put in gravel or pebble stone. May deter them but also look lovely.

  Thanks you for the great tip.
  The ground on the window side is not even with the other corners. But I'll definitely look in to pebble stones. Hope they won't run on it and splash all around the grass.

  Install a border so it doesn't spill out. They have inexpensive benderboard edging at any home improvement center. Or consider a more decorative approach.
