Get a little junk table and two chairs form a thrift shop and paint them a bright color. If there is a cover over the patio consider one of the indoor outdoor patio rugs ad place it down to cover as much of the patio as possible. Just be care so it does not present an edge to throw you. Lots of plants, in bright pots to go with the color scheme. Some wind chimes? A few little decorative animals or such ?
Reed fence but you must seal it. I used both reed and bamboo. Bamboo is pricey though.
Can you take a picture and post it here? See the little photo icon in the left corner of the message space?
I agree with lisa S. Get fabric glue and make some outdoor curtains, solar lights are so fun too.
How about a bistro set or some sort of seating and small table, some easy care plants and some garden art. Maybe a rug and some pillows or throws? See if these links give you any ideas.

If the space is very small I would suggest the nicest quality of furnishings that you can afford. Think of the space as a room in your house and what purpose you want from it. Is it to entertain? To read in, to watch the world go by from? To eat in, etc. Are you handy, can you paint, refinish, sew? If it is small with a privacy fence can you hang things? Here are two small spaces. The patio has just chairs and table. The porch is styled for summer.
