Think in terms of Wooden fence preservative for your decked area. Comes in many colours. You could also singe it with a blow torch as a finish.
Paint peels. Remove the paint and stain and seal the deck. The wood will help warm up the enterance making it more welcoming.
Hello, hope this helps you out.
The principles of adhesion in relation to paint are complex, but in short, a bond is created between the paint and the wood or other surface when specific criteria are met. If one or more issues exist, this bond can fail and peeling or flaking can occur. Common reasons that you may have peeling paint on deck surfaces include:
Look into the trex type material. That all you do for upkeep is to hose it off.
We recently had our deck replaced Dec 2022, it was rotten and very old, along with that, we were looking to a well established company to put down Trex decking material. They informed us that because our deck was so close to the ground Trex would not be a good choice. We went with pressure treated boards. I plan to stain it and put a protectant sealer on it this year. Paint does peel up after time and gets hard to maintain.
Drainage holes might help, or a good run off!
My nephew had the same problem. He rented a sander from Home Depot and repainted. 1.5 years later same thing. He finally went and got some composit decking at Home Depot. He also put it under a veranda that he built in the yard. No more problems. Expensive, yes, he had several friends come help install. Now looks beautiful. Oh and he lives in NJ cold in winter, hot and humid in summer.
