Can I remove kitchen cabinet doors that are made of mdf?

My kitchen cabinets (in a ’90s mobile home) are mdf with the paper type covering that rubs off if you scrub too hard. I’ve read that to paint cabinets, it’s good to remove them but have been afraid I would not be able to reinstall in the same holes because there would not be enough ”grip”. Could I leave them on and get a decent paint job?

Yes if you leave them in place you can paint them, just be careful around the hardware...it might take a little longer than if you removed them

I agree with Holly. It is easier to paint the doors and cabinets with the doors removed. But it's not necessary. Just use blue painters tape over the hinges. remove the pulls, and paint away. Use a foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

You could remove the doors and use wood putty to fill the existing screw holes which you'd be able to screw into after it dries. You'll need to get the old paper off the doors before painting and that might be a bit more difficult with them still hanging.
