I covered my sink and spray painted my old ugly yellow Formica ! I then sealed it with a clear coat . It held up well , but this was our half bath ... I replaced the vanity when doing the Reno a little over a year later. Just a warning , I used large plastic tablecloths from the dollar store and covered the whole bathroom before spraying to protect from the overspray fallout !!! Otherwise there would be tons of cleaning .
There are so many varieties of spray paint now , I used a textured hammered bronze. I also clean the vanity top well and used a sanding sponge to scuff it up first . Then I did 2 coats of spray paint and one of clear coat . Good luck !
We used a product called Feather Finish. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/changing-up-an-orange-formica-countertop-with-concrete-18147786
