How to distress a dark hutch?

    Hey Donna a little fine grit sand paper will work, just rub it along the edges gently and then you can do as much distressing as you like.

    If you're asking about distressing techniques, some people use various widths and weights of chains.

  • I like to use 220 grit sandpaper for distressing. Rub the sandpaper in places that would get wear naturally (where you would touch it a lot, or where it would get bumped by the vacuum, etc.) I prefer a lightly distressed look, so I rub the edges, varying the intensity in spots to make it look more natural. You shouldn't see straight lines of distressing.
