How can I easily refinish a small pub table?

Im looking for an easy inexpensive way to refinish the top of a small 36” pub table that has an espresso finish but has been damaged due to nail polish remover spill. I want to do just the top in a light gray wash and keep the kegs and chairs in espresso. What materials do I need?

Lightly sand with 100 grit sandpaper to remove any shine and roughen for paint. Then do your wash. To paint solid prime with Kilz primer then paint your color.
You could sand the top all the way down to the wood and then stain in a gray stain. Depending on the wood you get a variety of color--it's not just solid gray. If it is pine-- you will will darker gray areas, some lighter. Minwax makes a gray stain. Then use a few think coats of poly to seal it. If you left some of the expresso color visible and then stained over it with gray it might look really nice that way as well. You would have to make sure you have sanded off any poly finish because the stain wouldn't absorb into that.
Hi Debbie, very simple fix, make sure it is clean and dry, buy a small container of light grey chalk paint, mask the edges and paint . Use recommended sealer to seal.
