Painting Over Laminate Counters (Faux Travertine Look)
Hi ! I painted my countertops ! I first cleaned them , then used a sanding sponge to scuff them and dull the finish . I cleaned them again to make sure no dust was left on them . I bought Benjamin Moore's advance paint , brushes clean with soap and water , but the finish dries hard like an enamel . It was about $40 . Plus I also bought their recommend primer , a few dollars cheaper than the paint . I used one coat of primer and 2 coats of paint . Very happy with the results ! Another application you might want to look into , is feather weight concrete finish , it is one of today's featured tutorials ! Home depot & Lowes both carry products to paint and cover Formica counters . Good luck !!!
Thank you Pamela! Appreciate your input!!
Cheapest options would be to paint or use the countertop contact paper. I personally don't like either option, but it could get you through until you can afford to reformica, epoxy or some solid surface option.
Good idea. I have to find out the budget but this may be the cheapest option. Thanks!
